Something different in the ABA Gallery for our our 16th exhibition. For this collection our members were asked to think of something "Unusual" for their submission, it could be the composition of the subject an aspect of the plant’s colour or the way light is reflected, even the subject itself. Our members have certainly stepped up to this challenge with some very "Unusual" submissions.

Our featured image the "Tree Tumbo" (Welwitschia mirabilis), by Cynthia Byrne-Margetts is definitely "Unusual" as specimens can be as old as a 2000 years. Native to Namibia and Angola it is a plant that is often called a living fossil and is restricted to desert areas with almost no rainfall, relying on a deep taproot, transient water sources and precipitation from fog.

A full description of this highly "Unusual" plant can be read here.

We hope you enjoy the latest ABA Exhibition and if you are a member or are thinking of becoming a member your work could be included in our next exhibition which will be published in November.
